Cherry Blossom

Overview:

Cherry Blossom(チェリーブラッサム) is the fourth single by Seiko Matsuda (松田聖子), released on January 21, 1981.
Cherry Blossom(チェリーブラッサム) is characterized by a bright and cheerful melody, and is themed around cherry blossoms, which symbolize spring in Japan, and is evaluated as a song that harmoniously blends the season and emotional atmosphere.
This album is the first song composed by Kazuo Zaitsu, who would continue to compose for Seiko.
At the time, idol songs were mainly composed in the following flow: A melody (intro) -> chorus -> bridge -> A melody again, but this song was a rare type of song at the time, created around the repetition of the chorus.
As soon as it was released, it took 2nd place on the Oricon, and the following week, it rose to 1st place, beating Toshihiko Tahara (田原俊彦). It is a song with a bright melody full of hope and dreams, but at the time, Seiko Matsuda said she didn’t like the song because it didn’t suit her.
At the time, Seiko Matsuda was working on an incredibly busy schedule, and one day, she couldn’t go to The Best Ten Studio, so she got off the Shinkansen for a while while it was stopped, sang, and got back on when the song was almost over.
The A-side is Cherry Blossom (チェリーブラッサム), and the B-side is Sukoshizutsu Haru (少しずつ春).
