Glass no Ringo(ガラスの林檎)

Overview:

Glass no Ringo (ガラスの林檎) is a single album by Seiko Matsuda released on August 1, 1983.
As the title suggests, Glass no Ringo (ガラスの林檎) included on the A-side is a song that expresses the instability and subtlety of love through the images of delicate and fragile glass and apples.
SWEET MEMORIES included on the B-side is also very popular, and both songs are famous for being hits. SWEET MEMORIES is a sweet ballad that was used as commercial music and was widely loved by the public.
Glass no Ringo was created when the producer at the time asked him to create a song like Simon and Garfunkel’s (released in 1970).
SWEET MEMORIES was used as the commercial song for the Suntory beer commercial. The CF made into an animation had a penguin character singing in Seiko’s voice, and this penguin character became so popular that it was also made into a theatrical animation.
When the Suntory beer CF was first broadcast, the singer’s name and credits were not indicated, so there was a lot of talk about who the singer was. It is said that two record companies called and said, “We want to use the new singer who is singing in our company,” without knowing that the singer was Seiko Matsuda. It is said that even Seiko Matsuda’s mother did not know.
SWEET MEMORIES is a famous song that is considered to have been the opportunity for the public to recognize Seiko Matsuda’s singing ability. Seiko Matsuda was surprised when she first heard the song, saying, “It’s such a difficult song!” She has only been in the 3rd year since her debut, but she said that it was difficult to sing because the style of the song was clearly different from the songs she had sung before.
