風立ちぬ(Kaze Tachinu)
Overview:
Kaze Tachinu(風立ちぬ) is the fourth studio album by Seiko Matsuda, released on October 21, 1981.
The title Kaze Tachinu means “the wind is blowing”, and the album contains the atmosphere of autumn and a delicate and lyrical sensibility as if the wind is blowing.
The lonely yet romantic atmosphere of autumn flows throughout the album, and the musical expressions with rich sensitivity stand out.
It is said that Seiko Matsuda, who was recording this album, cried on the bus on the way to the studio because her throat was in bad shape due to the harsh schedule and because of the strict guidance of producer Eiichi Ohtaki (大瀧詠一). However, the recording was completed safely, and the producer is said to have praised Seiko after seeing the completed album.
Tracks 1 to 5 were produced by Eiichi Ohtaki (大瀧詠一), and his creativity is evident. It is also said that the songs were composed to be paired with the songs included in Eiichi Ohtaki’s (大瀧詠一) album ‘A long vacation’ that was released 7 months ago, and if you listen to the songs in the two albums, you can see that they are quite similar.
This album is one in which lyricist Takashi Matsumoto (松本隆) participated in earnest.
The main tracks are track 5, Kaze Tachinu (風立ちぬ), and track 8, Shiroi Parasol (白いパラソル).
