Overview:

This 1979 Japanese TV anime is a landmark in the Gundam series. It’s also known as First Gundam (ファーストガンダム), Gundam 0079, or the First Gundam (初代ガンダム).
It was directed by Yoshiyuki Tomino, with character design by Yoshikazu Yasuhiko and mecha design by Kunio Okawara. The planning and on-site production was Eiji Yamaura.
Unlike typical giant robot anime of the time, it depicts the growth of boys and girls amidst war and ideological conflict between nations, and is considered the forerunner of real robots.
