Seiko Matsuda’s Natsu no Tobira (夏の扉) was released on January 21, 1981 as her fifth single and a summer-themed song. This song has become her representative summer song, and is characterized by its cheerful and refreshing atmosphere.
Yoshiko Miura (三浦徳子), who has been in charge of writing lyrics since her debut, leaves after this song.
She participated in the 32nd NHK Kōhaku Uta Gassen with this song.
It has become the ending song for Seiko’s performances for the past 10 years.
The word “fresh” is included in the lyrics, and it is presumed that it was added to be used as a product advertisement for Shiseido’s facial cleanser EKUBO.
The A-side is Natsu no Tobira (夏の扉), and the B-side is Hoo ni Shiokaze (頬に潮風).
