Japanese animation. Aired from May 8, 1980 to January 31, 1981. A total of 39 episodes. A TV series directed by Yoshiyuki Tomino that aired after “Mobile Suit Gundam.” Tomonori Kogawa served as character designer and chief animation director. Director Yoshiyuki Tomino’s ambitious work that goes beyond the worldview of Mobile Suit Gundam and pursues cause and effect and mysterious powers in space. It is famous for being the work that Yoshiyuki Tomino is most satisfied with out of all his works, and in an interview, Director Tomino himself said that it is a work that cannot be compared to Gundam, that it is a work that is so amazing that when I look back now, I wonder how I was able to make something like this, and that I won’t regret it when I die, since I created Ideon while I was alive.”
